PM Modi Calls Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ ‘Jooth Ki Goonj’ in Vadodara

PM Modi attacked Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ campaign as ‘Jooth Ki Goonj’ in Vadodara, while addressing youth and inaugurating Rs 35,000 crore development projects.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday mocked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ initiative, calling it ‘Jooth Ki Goonj’ (echo of lies), and said the youth of the country would “stand with the truth” and not be “misled” by the Opposition.

Modi made the remarks while addressing a gathering, mostly comprising youngsters, in Vadodara, Gujarat, after inaugurating development projects worth Rs 35,000 crore.

“At every nook and corner, you will find people who will try to mislead you through ‘Jooth Ki Goonj’, but today’s youth will stand with the truth,” Modi said.

‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ is a student-dialogue campaign launched by the Congress, under which programmes are being organised in various cities across the country.

The Prime Minister also stressed the need for young Indians to develop expertise in artificial intelligence. “Youth of the country have to become experts in AI, and we want our youth to excel in the field,” he said.

Modi further targeted the previous Congress-led regime over what he described as its “slow pace of development”, comparing the construction of modern rail coaches under the current government with toilet construction during the Congress regime.

“After 2014, India built 50,000 modern rail coaches. The previous (Congress) regime could not build even 50,000 toilets in 10 years,” Modi said.

During the event, Modi inaugurated three key sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, connecting Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Navi Mumbai with Dadri in Uttar Pradesh.

“Dedicated freight corridors are the lifeline of a fast-developing India. India’s transformation is accelerating because of this modern freight network,” Modi said.

He again targeted the Opposition with his “naraz fufa” jibe, saying, “Naraz Fufa will now scream: what will happen to truckers? Fufa has some work now,” without naming Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Modi said the government accelerated work on the dedicated freight corridor project after he reached Delhi in 2014.

“After 2014, with your blessings, when I reached Delhi, and as soon as we arrived there, we began accelerating this project. Work on the dedicated freight corridors has been completed today,” he said.

The remarks came as Modi addressed the gathering in Vadodara after inaugurating development projects worth Rs 35,000 crore and marking the completion of work on the dedicated freight corridor sections highlighted at the event.
